Sister's Halaqa Group
Why these sessions? What are our goals?
Inshallah, these sessions will be used to
To further define and clarify our purpose in life.
To understand the meaning of life with Allah as our main focal point.
To gain knowledge that we can share with our families and our friends and with our communities.
To find ways to make it easier to live by Quran and Sunnah without breaking our backs.
To attain Ihsan.
Method to the madness…
During each session, we will give time to various things.
10-15 minutes will be spent to read and understand a verse in the Quran. We will do this sequentially as this is the only way for us in the beginning.
A main topic will be discussed (that we will decide upon in advance – everyone is welcome to present a topic). These should not be more than 30-45 minutes. Topics will be on Islam, Quran, Hadith, History and all things that are discussable. There are no limits as Allah puts no limits on us when it comes to knowledge except for that which is of no use.
As part of our sessions we will try to memorize Allah’s names with their meanings.
Duas will be discussed or given out for our benefit.
Hadith will be discussed as part of our main topics and sometimes as an additional topic.
We will always enjoy our sessions with a little snack and meeting the sisters in our community.
Topics we cover will range from religious issues to social issues. We will cover topics that we can use to improve our deen as well as learn things that will help us to lead better lives with our families, friends and society in general.
Some topics that the ladies would like to see covered…
These are only a few to begin with. Inshallah, we will add to this list as time goes on.
Ladies for Charity
As part of the sessions, it is requested that you donate $10 (at each session) to be used for a cause to benefit our needy
brothers and sisters here in the states and overseas. We will determine, as a group, where the
money should go so please bring any names or numbers/addresses.
Update: As of Feb 20, 2008, the Sister's Halaqa has raised $600 of which, $200 went to victims of Hurricane Sidra in Bangladesh, $200 went to the building of a masjid, and $200 went to the tuition of a student in a Madrasa in Bangladesh.
I am also pleased to say that clothes collected for donations were also given to a charity for the needy.
